1Purge: the break-through and pull-residue operation
Purge Means driving ASACLEAN purging compound into deep cleaning Deep Inside screw and barrel
Working principle
Injected ASACLEAN pellets clump, expand or scrub to pull stuck Old resin, hidden screw-channel color or deep-burnt carbon Out
Picking ASACLEAN grades for purging
This step may use high-cleaning grades such as High cleaning power For example NewEx grade With Glass fiber To scour deep residue, black burn and old color. Always subject to machine limits and TDS.
Hot Runner machines: dodge GF grades like newEX and RX, picking maker-listed Non-GF grades such as RU, RE, SL or PF Verifying temperature range and flow path first. Read Hot Runner purging guide and Mechanical Purging article
2Rinse: the flush and displace operation
Rinse Runs immediately After purging finishes Clearing the system for real part injection
Working principle
Bring New Virgin Resin Or specialty purging grades to push and flush leftover ASACLEAN out (Displacement) so no compound contaminates real parts
Picking rinse material
General jobs may chase with new Virgin Resin directly, but ultra-clean jobs may need Easy-purging ASACLEAN grades (such as SL) As a first step, then rinse again with transparent resin
3Purge vs Rinse comparison table
| Topic | Purge | Rinse |
|---|---|---|
| Goal | Pull deep residue, color and carbon out | Sweep leftover ASACLEAN, ready production |
| Material used | High-power ASACLEAN grades (NewEx, RX) (RX: Not yet available in Thailand) | Virgin Resin or easy-purging ASACLEAN grades (SL) |
| Mechanism | Scrubbing + Shear + Cleaning Agent | Displacement push-out |
| What you see | Pellets exit with dirty debris | Pellets exit clear and clean, no residue |
| Time taken | Longer, must pull residue | Faster, mere displacement |
| Amount | Set from shot and barrel capacity, residue level and TDS | Set from leftover material and end-point criteria |
4Double-Step for transparent jobs: NewEx to SL to Virgin Resin
To picture perfect Purge and Rinse fusion, here is the working sequence facing Burn residue before transparent injection:
Step 1 — purge deep residue with scrubbing grades: ASACLEAN NewEx
Inject high-power ASACLEAN (NewEx) to scour deep burn or old color in screws. In this step you will see Dirty debris bleeding with pellet bodies
Step 2 — sweep leftovers: ASACLEAN SL (transparent-job grade)
Since NewEx carries glass fiber, follow with ASACLEAN grade SL Injected after to scrub out NewEx glass fiber and residue Fully out. SL works like Broom Leaving the system spotless
Step 3 — final rinse with real resin: Virgin Resin
Inject the transparent plastic for real parts to chase ASACLEAN SL fully out, discarding shots until flowing plastic runs Crystal-clear with no white residue
Step 4 — start part production: Production Ready
Check purge and trial parts to plant quality gates. Start mold injection only past contamination gates, tracking early production.

5Tips for peak results
- Set temperature per grade manual: NewEX runs 200–330°C. SL and production resin per their documents.
- Fix Back Pressure and Screw Speed in the SOP: Machine-, grade- and pressure-limit-fitting values, never one middle value for every system
- Run until uniform pellet color: Stop when discharge is purely the fed material color with no old-color streaks
- Soak on heavy residue only: Where that grade manual allows, with time and temperature in the SOP against material degradation
- Routine so Double-Step is not every time: Plants running Routine Purging Steadily rarely need heavy NewEx purges nearly every round
- Never newEX on Hot Runner: Glass fiber may hit gates and fine flow paths. Pick maker-listed grades like RU, RE, SL or PF per resin and temperature.
6FAQ
How do Purge and Rinse differ?
Purge breaks through and pulls residue: old resin, color and carbon out of screws and barrels with ASACLEAN. Rinse flushes and displaces with new resin or easy-purging ASACLEAN grades to chase leftover ASACLEAN out before real production.
Why both steps?
Purging alone may leave ASACLEAN in the system, while rinsing alone may not pull deep residue. Both should run consecutively with plant quality-gate checks before production.
NewEx or SL for transparent jobs?
The Double-Step uses NewEx for deep residue, then SL to sweep leftover material, before transparent Virgin Resin rinse. Always verify grade fitness to machine and real job.
Can Virgin Resin rinse alone?
Enough for some jobs, but strict-quality transparent jobs should assess mid-step ASACLEAN SL with purge or trial-part checks before real production.
What replaces newEX and SL?
Substitution weighs resin, temperature, goals and flow system, never power level alone. With Hot Runner start screening from maker-listed grades such as RU / RE / SL / PF Then verify grade and mold manuals before trials
What are combined NewEx plus SL plus Virgin Resin amounts?
Calculate from Shot Size or Barrel Capacity, Hot Runner, residue level and part clarity gates. Set starting amounts and stop criteria in the Trial Plan instead of one figure for every machine.
How long do Purge plus Rinse take?
Depends on flow-path size and structure, old residue, material and check gates. Clock from purge start to passing purge or trial parts as that machine baseline.
